Frequently asked questions

We use modern encoding algorithms. In "Soft compression" mode quality is set to 90% — visually indistinguishable from the original, but gives a 30-60% size reduction. In "Compress to size" mode the algorithm picks the quality automatically to hit your target.
JPG and WebP files up to 20 MB are processed directly in your browser — we don't upload them to our servers. Files larger than 20 MB or in other formats (PNG, AVIF, HEIC) are processed on the server and deleted automatically after processing.
In "Soft compression" mode (90% quality) the difference from the original is visually unnoticeable, even on large screens. In "Compress to size" mode, when target sizes are very small, artifacts may appear — a trade-off between quality and size.
